Arlington Reads Together for Teens

You have probably seen the flyers and table promoting our Arlington Reads Together's selection Americanah by Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie but may be having a hard time finding a copy or don't have the time or brain power to read such a lengthy book (this could have to do with all of those pesky homework assignments and activities taking up most of your free time). Whatever the case, we have created a list of suggested titles just for teens. The titles vary in difficulty, length and topics to help best fit your reading tastes and time constraints. Without further ado... The List!

Teen Titles
The Good Braider: a novel by Terry Farish
Born Confused by Tanuja Desai Hidier
Inside Out & Back Again by Thanhha Lai
How it Went Down by Kekla Magoon
A Step from Heaven by An Na
The Not-So-Star-Spangled Life of Sunita Sen: a novel by Mitali Perkins
All American Boys by Jason Reynolds and Brendan Kiely
Written in the Stars by Aisha Saeed
The Latte Rebellion by Sarah Jamila Stevenson

Adult Titles with Teen Appeal
Between the World and Me by Ta-Nehisi Coates
What is the What by Dave Eggers
Girl in Translation by Jean Kwok
Mambo in Chinatown by Jean Kwok

Do not hesitate to reach out to myself or someone at the Reference Desk if you have trouble locating particular book. The Spectacular Stacy Kitsis, the Library Media Teacher at Arlington High School, brainstormed this list with me and is another option if you aren't able to make it to the library to ask us for help.

Happy Reading!

P.S. Americanah is a beautiful book, I highly recommend listening to the audiobook, so do not be scared off by the length. We take the selection process of the Arlington Reads Together title very seriously and would not have picked the book if we did not think it was completely and utterly AWESOME!
