Goodbye, All!

Dear Teens (or other library users, but mainly teens),

It has been amazing being your Teen Services Librarian. The Teen Area has gone through a drastic transformation in my 5+ years here; it may not be perfect (if only there were walls!), but I've done my best to leave you a space that is safe and comfortable.

There won't be as many programs until a new librarian is hired but the staff at the Reference Desk are wonderful, they will do their best to help you with whatever you may need.

While I'm gone, do not hesitate to leave feedback for the next person in the Pink Pig. Dont' know what I'm referring to? Just come into the Teen Area, you are sure to find it.

You are all awesome, it has been a blast!!!

ART 2017 Kicks Off Saturday with Nicole Maines and Pizza!

Arlington Reads Together 2017 kicks off with a special event! Join us for an afternoon with Nicole Maines, the subject of our 2017 selection “Becoming Nicole: The Transformation of an American Family” by Amy Ellis Nutt. Nicole’s talk “Transgender: You’re Part of the Story” will be inspiring to teens and adults as she recounts her life and work to tell the world who she is. This event will be held at Arlington’s Town Hall Saturday, March 4 from 1:00 to 3:00 pm.

Following the event, The Book Rack will be selling copies of “Becoming Nicole” and Nicole will be signing books.

This event is free and open to all. Registration is suggested.

Following Nicole Maine’s talk at Town Hall, area teens are invited to a pizza social with Nicole. She’ll be speaking with First Parish and Arlington-area Youth. Hang out, play games, and have a chance to meet Nicole.

This event will be held at the First Parish Unitarian Universalist of Arlington, Massachusetts at 630 Mass Ave, from 2:00 to 4:00 pm. First Parish is located directly next to Robbins Library. This event is free and open to area teens. There will be a concurrent parent’s forum with Nicole’s father Wayne Maines.
