NaNoWriMo2013bannerIf you have ever dreamed of writing a novel, then this is the month to do it! The goal of joining NaNoWriMo is to try to write an entire novel, or 50,000 words in one month! The NaNoWriMo website provides great resources for writers including a list of Write Ins, pep-talks, and writing logs to help you through this endeavor. It is a great way to connect with other writers struggling with the same challenges as you.  Click here For more information on NaNoWriMo .

Why am I telling you about NaNoWriMo if it has NOTHING to do with the library?

1) We are hosting Write Ins at the library for anyone ages 13+ to come work on their novels! The first meeting will be Friday, November 1st from 9:00 AM - 12:00 PM. For a listing of dates and times, just click here for a PDF calendar. If mornings do not work for you, which will probably be a majority of teens, come to our Wednesday night Write Ins from 6:00 PM - 9:00 PM November 6th-20th. Just keep in mind that adults can come to these sessions to, so don't be surprised if there aren't just teens in the room.

2) We are a fantastic resource for writers! We can help you reach your writing goals by offering laptops to use anywhere in the building, that means you can take one to the Quiet Floor (the 2nd floor) and type away without distractions. We have free wi-fi throughout our building, allowing you to update your NaNoWriMo progress from anywhere in the building. We also have plenty of books about writing and books to help inspire you throughout the process. One of the best ways to become a great writer is to read!

I know that 50,000 words sounds impossible, but if you are serious about being a writer then why not give it a shot? You may surprise yourself. If NaNoWriMo is just way too much to think about, then consider joining the writing group. Both these options are free and are meant to help you explore your creativity.
