Sci-fi Fri: Movie Clues

Teens, come to a Sci-Fi dystopian themed screening of two movies. We can't tell you what they are here, but we can give you some clues! You can also check in the library for flyers or call the Reference Desk.

Movie the First:

1) This movies stars Will Smith as Del Spooner and Alan Tudyk as a robot named Sonny.

2) Sonny's eyes are blue, while the rest of robots feature brown eyes.

3) This movie was based off the writings of Isaac Asimov.

Movie the Second

1) James Franco, Andy Serkis, John Lithgow, and Tom Felton (Draco Malfoy) all star in this movie.

2) This movie is a prequel to a movie that was originally released in 1968 and rebooted in 2001. The 2001 movie starred Mark Wahlberg and was directed by Tim Burton.

3) Andy Serkis is known for bringing to life Gollum in the Lord of the Rings movies. This movie is the second where he plays an ape, the first being King Kong.

Event Cancelled...

**This Event Has Been Cancelled**


We want you to come throw paint and dance Wednesday, July 31st at the Robbins Library!  Come learn some Kathak dance moves and re-enact a Holi festival, paint throwing and all!  

This event will start at 6:30 PM in the Robbins Library Community Room and move outside for the paint throwing.

Be sure to where clothes that you don't mind getting paint on.  These vibrant colors may stain clothing.  

Holi is a Hindu festival celebrating the end of Winter and the beginning of Spring.  Spring may be over, but the warm summer air will be the perfect backdrop for this outdoor activity.  You can learn more about this holiday by attending the event!

Movie Today Wed. July 24th

Here are some clues about today's movie!

1- This movie stars Chris Hemsworth and Josh Hutcherson.

2- This movie is a remake of a 1984 movie where the Soviet Union and Cuba invade the US. The new version has North Korea as the invading force.

3- This movie was set to release in 2010, but the release date had to be pushed back almost 2 years because of the studio's financial troubles.

4- Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 features a stage called "Wolverines" where a foreign army invades America. This was in homage to the original movie.

5- Picture Clue!!!

Holi Celebration: 
Dance and Paint Throwing
Wednesday, July 31st
6:30 PM - 8:00 PM
Robbins Library Community Room
Come celebrate the traditions of Holi with dancing and throwing powdered paint! Come learn the basic moves of Kathak dance with dancers from Chhandika (www.chhandika.org). Dancers will perform an original piece and teach teens exciting footwork rhythms and patterns. Participants will have a chance to learn a dance piece and ask questions. The workshop will end with a special outdoor activity where we will re-enact a Holi festival in which friends, families and neighbors throw colored powder on each other as a way to celebrate the Spring Harvest. This event is for teens only (grades 6-12). ***Please wear clothes that you don't mind getting paint on!***

“The Adoration of Jenna Fox"
This book group meets the second Wednesday of each month. Attendees will help select the book for each future meeting. The goal is to try new books; if you can't get into the selection then just put it down. No worries if you don't finish the book, just come share your thoughts on other books you have read, eat snacks and enjoy the discussion! Drop in and bring friends.

Copies of "The Adoration of Jenna Fox" by Mary E. Person are available in the Teen Area now.

Martial Arts Class

Teens-this demonstration/lesson will include a brief warmup, lesson on beginning level Martial Art Techniques and the application of the same in Self Defense Scenarios. Should be fast paced & fun for everyone involved!!
